July 2024: Another month of hitting the weekends hard at events. We started July with a double hitter weekend for the big dogs, doing Fastcats and a French Ring trial for 3 days after the 4th of July. July 12th we took Haka and Redrum (Belgian) to the Jumping K9 Ranch in Kingman AZ for 2 split days of jumping for NADD. July 19th we hit the home dock for a few more jumps for Haka and Redrum. July 20th and 21st we had a local UKC show and I entered my two youngest dogs for conformation (it was way too hot for performance events). Haka had 4 shows, and left with a Group 3, a Group 2, two Group 1, and a Reserve in Show from judge Martin Cabral! My Belgian Boy Riddick had 3 shows, taking a Group 1 and Best in show Saturday and closing out his UKC CH on Sunday under Martin Cabral. July 27 we went to our secondary home dog at Valley Center Dog Dock and Haka had 3 jumps and a new personal best at 9'5". July 28th, we attended a NASDA benefit trial to raise funds for ALS. Haka finished his UL1 title and had 2 high in trials, one of them he finished in 2.7 seconds of the allotted 2 minutes. He also played 2 Urban Challenges games designed to test specific skill sets and passed both levels. I took my oldest Belgian, Omaha, with as well to close out some Urban Challenge titles and finished his Versatility Urban Bronze title With an impending career change on my part, we should be finished with our pool season for the year unless there is an event close to home. WE will be shifting our training focuses back to ringsport (belgians) and scent locating/ rat based activities as it cools down for the year and we can resume hunting. Haka will also be joining Riddick in NACSW classes in August.

January 2025: It has been an eventful 4 months since our last update. A week before Haka's ORT, I broke my ankle and required a significant surgery and a lengthy recovery time. Haka did finish his health testing and is clear of all issues genetic and physical. I was able to judge a NASDA trail the weekend after thanksgiving and we trials many of our dogs as well. Haka, Banzai, and Riddick all completed their Shed dog level one titles. Haka and Riddick also earned a good chunks of their UL2/TL2 respectively. Banzai finished her TL2. and my husband's whippet , SIf, finished her UL1 and TL1. We also visited a neighboring UKC club in Arizona, getting some much needed points for Haka and a few Group placements for Banzai in November. In December I did a one day turn and burn dog show day with haka in search of those last 10 points he needed for his Championship and once again visited the friend at the Arizona UKC and finished out his Championship, earned 2 group 1 placements, and received a Best in Show. The next day I judged a NASDA trial here in Southern California and Haka finished his UL2. Our much anticipated breeding between Haka and Banzai took place in mid January, with puppies anticipated in mid March, so most of our spring will be busy raising puppies and Banzai will be on the backburner for trials and work until the Summer. Haka and I try for his ORT on February 8th, and then we have two weekends of me judging different NASDA trials in the area. We also fInally got our kennel logo completed and will be offering branded merchandise for Puppy buyers and supporters of our small kennel. 2025 looks like a year of big things to come, see you all in February!

February 2025: IOur upcoming litter was confirmed on valentines day! Puppies are expected mid March with an official due date of March 19th. We are expecting a larger than normal litter and have reopened our puppy lists. On February 8th, Haka and I travelled to Ontario CA to earn out ORT certification and passed all three Odors, now we are training for our NW1 tests (maybe in March). I did judge a few NASDA trials locally and succeeded in earning a good chunk of Omaha's SD3 points and finished the points for Omaha's TL3. Now he's working towards his TL master championship. March is going to be a BIG month for us, with two UKC shows and Puppies arriving. Stay tuned for Puppy arrivals, or follow us on Facebook under the Moormont Kennels group.

March 2025: Our litter arrived on March 17th. We welcomed two girls and a boy. They now have their own page through the litter information page. March was a relatively slow month for us, we had two different UKC shows in the area that we supported. Our first UKC show was a cluster event, 5 conformation shows and 6 performance events available to us. Haka showed 5 times, with nothing less than a Group 4. He finished his DASH and his HOP titles as well, earning him 5 UKC Total Dog awards. The Belgian boys went as well, and Omaha earned his Obedience PN, his URO1, and one leg towards his WSD title. Riddick Earned his Obedience PN and his URO1 title as well. Our second UKC show was in Hemet nearby and Haka and I went to show under another Patterdale Breeder. Haka earned another two group placements. Other than the few shows, I doted on the new puppies and started setting up some fun stuff for them once they're a bit older

Current news and updates

April 2025: The majority of our month was spent raising the puppies and prepping for the May/June trial seasons. Haka did go down to the San Diego NADD pool for a few jumps and added 2 more senior and one junior leg to his record. The puppies have grown like weeds, just a few more weeks until they go home. We have decided to retain our PInk collar girl. May will be a big month for us with puppies going home and our local JRTCA club trial.

September 2024: An extremely quiet month for us on the news front. I have started a new job, so trials have been placed on the backburner for us until our schedule is more stable. Haka and Riddick have been attending NACSW classes locally with Agile Paws, both are in preparations for their ORT, which will hopefully happen in October for at least one of them. Haka did hit his one year birthday at the end of the month, now to finish up the health testing on him.

August 2024: A light month for us on the news front. We started the first weekend of the month with a one day NASDA trial in Big Bear CA for the Belgian boys. Omaha earned a good chunk of points towards his Shed dog 2 and some UL3 points, Riddick finished his Urban Locating one and some UL2 points. We had a friend out from France for Ringsport dogs the majority of the month, and I started my new job, so aside from HAKA starting NACSW classes and Riddick continuing, we didn't do much until the end of the month, I had a judging assignment for NASDA in Tehachapi Labor Day weekend and we made a weekend of it. In addition to judging, we had big achievements all around here. Banzai had 6 runs of Trailing and locating 2, and is only 2 runs from her TL2 title. My husband was also kind enough to get behind the wheel and run Banzai in her first Urban locating 3 runs and they did phenomenal. Haka finished out his TL1 title and ran in UL2 and TL2, getting a significant amount of points towards those 2's. Riddick also finished his TL1 and earned significant points towards his 2's, he also let my husband get behind the wheel and run him in TL2. Omaha finished not only his UL3, but also his SD2. Now the goals are UL3 and the TL2 for Banzai, the TL2 and UL2 for Haka and Riddick, and the ULMCH and SD3 for Omaha. September will be another light month for us, but we have several judging contracts coming up this fall/winter.

June 2024: Continuing our busy streak from May, once I returned home from the Indy 500, we had one day off and we were off to the NADD pools for a season opener at the home dock pool. Banzai has never been a huge fan of jumping off the dock, so we usually let her have the weekend off or bring her along to hang out . We took Haka with instead this round and let him have a few 'try its' to gain confidence at new docks. Our team of Tervurens were the main stars of that weekend, with our oldest, Omaha, earning his Dock Senior Excellent title. We had a few weekends of R&R (and vet stuff for the tervs) and a photoshoot for Banzai and a few of our other dogs. We then hit the pools again on the 22nd at our other "home" dock at Valley Center Dock Dogs. This time my Tervuren, Redrum, earned a big ribbon, securing his Dock Elite Excellent. Not to be left out again, we signed Haka up for 2 official splashes, and he did not disappoint! Haka left with his first ever NADD scores of 8'0 and 7'3. that may not seem like much but we have not introduce distance or speed off the dock yet. I anticipate his jumps will grow as the skills develop. Our last event of June was once again at the home dock at High Desert Dog Sports for the Regional Qualifiers. Haka jumped very well, earing a regionals invitation and winning his division for the weekend.

May 2024: May was a SUPER busy trial month for us here. Cinco de Mayo weekend, Banzai, Haka, Riddick (our youngest of Tervurens) and I packed the van and headed the 8 hours north to Loomis, the home of Haka's breeder, Cathy, at Oakleaf Patterdales for a weekend of work. Saturday consisted of a double header AWTA trial in some torrential downpour. despite the travel and the weather, we walked away earning Haka's Novice A and Banzai's Certificate of Gameness (CG). We camped at Lake Folsom and the views were fantastic with plenty of good walking trails. Sunday was a triple header of NASDA trials where I helped with judging Urban, Trailing, and Shed classes. Haka competed in his first rounds of NASDA Urban and Trailing levels, our Young Tervuren Riddick also ran his first levels at Urban and Trailing, and Banzai added another chunk of points towards her TL2 title. The young dogs worked incredibly well and I could not have been happier with their search patterns. We also got to visit and see Haka's littermate sister, his father, mother, and all other relatives while up there. Haka looks so much like his father, Mack. Mother's Day weekend we loaded up the Patterdales and drove to our home sports park at High Desert Dog Sports to compete in our first ever Barn Hunt trials. Banzai passed her Instinct test, All legs for her Novice Title and one leg towards her Open Title. In addition I threw Banzai into a Crazy 8's round and walked away with 4 rat tubes and 50 points. Haka Passed his instinct test and passed 2/4 levels of Novice. both NQ were on me as a handler for calling the alerts in the wrong spots trying to save time. but for a 7 month old dog I cannot be upset, we are still working on development as a team, we will get there in no time. Our weekend after Barnhunt was consumed by my club running our first FCAT trials of the year, and while the Terriers love to course, I will not alter them to play at AKC. Pool fun to come for the months of June and July!

April 2024: We attended a JRTCA Trial nearby in Anaheim CA and competed in GTG, Super Earth, Urban Warfare, and Trailing and locating with both Banzai and Haka in the Other Breed categories. This category is for any other breed of competing terrier or earth dog aside from a JRTCA Jack Russell. Our dogs were Rockstars both days and we came home with a clean sweep in the HIghpoint classes with Banzai taking Highpoint Champion AOB and Haka taking Reserve Highpoint Champion AOB. This was the first of the terrier events that we could attend with either dog. Haka was 7 months at the time! Our Urban warfare classes were incredibly fun and provided exposure to Red Fox and American Badger. If you ever get an opportunity to play, its worth it! Onto the next trials or AWTA and BHA in May!
